Getting Started
What is Wattly?
Wattly is a companion app for Tesla vehicle owners. It connects to your Tesla account through the official Tesla Fleet API to provide detailed statistics about your vehicle, including battery status, charging sessions, trip history, and energy consumption.
How do I connect my Tesla?
To connect your Tesla vehicle to Wattly:
- Open Wattly and tap "Sign in with Tesla"
- You will be redirected to Tesla's official authentication page
- Sign in with your Tesla account credentials
- Grant Wattly permission to access your vehicle data
- If you want to use vehicle commands, you'll need to add Wattly as a virtual key in the Tesla app
What is a Virtual Key?
A Virtual Key is a Tesla security feature that allows third-party apps to send commands to your vehicle (like lock/unlock, climate control, etc.). You can add Wattly as a virtual key through the Tesla app. This is optional and only required if you want to use vehicle commands.
Features
What data can I see in Wattly?
Wattly displays information including:
- Battery status: Current charge level, range, and charging state
- Charging history: All your charging sessions with energy added, duration, and cost estimates
- Trip history: Recorded drives with routes, distances, and energy consumption
- Climate status: Interior/exterior temperature and preconditioning state
- Vehicle location: Current position on map
- Statistics: Efficiency trends, battery health estimates, and consumption analytics
What is Fleet Telemetry?
Fleet Telemetry is Tesla's real-time data streaming service. When enabled, your vehicle sends data directly to our secure servers, allowing Wattly to automatically record your trips and charging sessions without you needing to manually refresh the app.
Telemetry is optional and can be enabled or disabled at any time from the app settings.
Privacy & Security
Is my data secure?
Yes, security is our top priority:
- Authentication tokens are stored securely in iOS Keychain
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS
- Data at rest is protected by platform security (iOS Keychain, encrypted databases)
- Telemetry data is stored on secure servers in the European Union
- We never store your Tesla password
What data does Wattly collect?
Wattly collects vehicle data necessary to provide our services (battery status, location, charging and driving history). We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising purposes. For complete details, please see our Privacy Policy.
How can I delete my data?
You can request complete deletion of your data by:
- Emailing privacy@wattlyapp.tech
- We will process your request within 30 days
Troubleshooting
Why isn't my vehicle data updating?
If your vehicle data isn't updating, try the following:
- Check that your vehicle has cellular/WiFi connectivity
- Ensure your Tesla account authorization hasn't expired (try signing out and back in)
- If using Fleet Telemetry, verify it's enabled in Settings
- The vehicle may be asleep to conserve battery - data will update when the vehicle wakes
Why can't I send commands to my vehicle?
Vehicle commands require a Virtual Key. To enable commands:
- Open the Tesla app on your phone
- Go to Security > Third Party Access
- Find Wattly and approve the virtual key
- You may need to be near the vehicle for initial key pairing
Why are my charging costs different from my electric bill?
Wattly calculates charging costs based on the electricity prices you configure in Settings. These are estimates based on energy added to the battery. Note that actual charger consumption may be higher due to charging losses (typically 5-15% depending on charging speed and conditions).

How do I manage my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through the App Store. To cancel or modify your subscription:
